Position Overview

The Network Engineer will be primarily responsible for the delivery and support of core routing, switching, wireless & UC engineering services for HN customers, including escalations from the Network Operations Centre (NOC) team.

The Network Engineer is expected to act as a team member, liaising with colleagues on projects and being the primary engineer on point projects, providing technical project management and direction as assigned.

They will also be responsible for delivering and owning solutions for the business, to include different vendor products such as Cisco, F5 and Juniper etc. Delivering high-quality services to customers around the world will be crucial to the success of the role.

Main Accountabilities/Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure & troubleshoot multivendor solutions in new and existing networks that may include:
    • Cisco Routing and Switching
    • Cisco Security – ASA/Firewall solutions
    • Cisco Wireless
    • Cisco ACI
    • Cisco Unified Communications – Call Manager
    • F5 ASM, LTM, GTM
    • Nimble Storage
    • VMWare (Advantageous)
    • Juniper (Advantageous)
    • Fortinet (Advantageous)
  • Participates in networking, wireless and UC assessments:
  • Participates in high-level project discussions with HN Pre-Sales and Solutions Architects
  • Provides peer review to other engineer designs
  • Provide network consulting and engineering services that assure a high degree of customer satisfaction
  • Be a point of escalation for NOC engineers and customer tickets
  • Provides timely and accurate information regarding the above to: Customers, Other Security Engineers, Engineers from other HN Business Units, HN Account Mangers and HN Project Managers (when a PM is required).
  • Provide support remotely and on-site.
  • Flexibility to work out of hours and participate in an on-call Rota.
  • Obtain and maintain vendor engineering certifications required for service delivery

what we're looking for in you

Essential Education / Experience:

  • 1+ years experience with Cisco routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Experience of wireless surveys, controllers and UC solutions would be advantageous.
  • CCNA or higher certification.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal communication skills.
  • Understanding of routing protocols and networking fundamentals.
  • Ability to work a variety of projects with limited supervision.
  • An understanding of ITIL frameworks would be advantageous.
